Player's scale are important to keep your levels in proper dimensions.

Here are the key dimensions:

Player Scale

Architecture Scale

Width/Depth: 32 units

1 foot = 16 units

Height: 72 units

Door Width: 48 units

Height Crouching: 36 units

Door Height: 108 units

Eye Level Crouching: 32

Hallway Height: 128 units

Eye Level Standing: 64

Hallway Width: 64 units

Slope to Climb: 45 degrees

Stairs Height: 8 units

 

Stairs Depth: 16 units

 

Max Step Height: 18 units

Thanks so much for the fast reply Alex. I figured that was the case I just was unsure because I couldn't find any documentation mentioning it.

I forgot to mention this in my first post but... Your material is amazing and so helpful. I can't imagine that I would even be attempting level design without your help.

Hey Jack. Yes, the saferoom door is bigger then most doors. You will have to rebuild the doorframe geometry to fit the safedoor.

Alex, when I insert a safe room door into this size doorway, the door is too big for the doorway. Am I doing something wrong or is a safe room door just bigger than most doors?

The model for an info_survivor_position is Francis. He's the tallest character in Left 4 Dead, so this is a good entity to drop down to check your scale.

First number is regular jump, second number is if you use Jump+Crouch.

Thanks for this! I always had trouble with dimensions (everything would be too big). Quick question though, what's the maximum height a player can jump?
